A brief animation created for our social channels to celebrate Halloween. The short centers around a spooky Kino haunted house filled with pig (our studio mascot) pun versions of the Universal Classic Monsters.
Storyboard + Assorted Scribbles
These rough storyboards illustrate my concept for the short animation.
We open on a spooky haunted house on the hill with gates out front bearing the name KINO. We push into the house and then encounter three pig pun monster vignettes. Count Porkula opens his coffin in a candlelit room. Bride of Porkenstein springs to life in a mad scientist’s lab. And The Wolfham stands in front of a full moon. We then end with the group and some Happy Halloween copy. Also shown are some of the various sketches and scribbles I made as part of developing the illustrations for various elements.
References & Inspiration
The primary visual inspiration was marketing materials created for the FX show ‘What We Do In The Shadows’ I used that as a starting off point and then pulled in other things as necessary to get ideas for type and various details in the scenes. The name stylization was based off movie posters for classic horror films.
